Dorcas Sewing Circle Event 8-22-15

Our Dorcas group had a very productive sewing session on Saturday at the church. My DH and I set up the room with a little help from a friend (Thanks, Paul for help with the cutting tables). Love those two adjustable tables so we did not have to bend over to cut fabric.

We set up 12 stations for machines with four power strips and most of those were in use along with two more machines. One of our ladies, Judy Whitt cut and prepared pink ribbons to go on breast cancer pillows that we were making to donate to those in need. We also made light blankets, book bags and diaper shirts for a Chimala Mission in  Africa, and some adult bibs for the nursing homes use.

At the machines were Linda Russell, Pearl Wadsworth, Madeline Skinner, Barbara Sexton, Leta Archer, Patsy Glover, Debra Moore, (me) Chris Biggerstaff, Judy Blair, Mary Tuck and Shirley Newton.

We had some extra help from Michelle Bagwell and Judy Blair's granddaughter, Macayla. Macayla was given an extra machine for her use and helped some with pillow stuffing. Several ladies brought sandwiches and chips for lunch along with ice tea.

We ended up with 6 breast cancer pillows, 16 blankets, 12 book bags, 3 adult bibs and 4 diaper shirts.  Several of these ladies took fabric home to continue sewing as well as other ladies from our Azle Church of Christ congregation.

This is a great ministry and we try to meet at least quarterly. We have ladies who sew or iron or cut patterns and we really appreciate all the help and fellowship.
