Christmas 2010 in Flower Mound

We had an early Christmas in Flower Mound at our daughter's home with Perry, Brenden, Jacob and Emma and friends of our son Mike, Wayne & Molly. We were very disappointed that he and Lili and baby Kalina were not able to come at the last minute, after all the planning, due to the snow storm in Europe. We think they made a wise decision not to join tens of thousands stuck at the airports but we sure missed them. We missed the rest of our family as well. Our son, Jay in Afghanistan will not get leave until around Spring Break and Rosario had Grandma duties with our three great grandchildren in Abilene. Hopefully next year the whole family will be together.

Daisy is always ready to go!

Here are a few pictures. I think I had my settings wrong on my camera so a lot of mine turned out very fuzzy. :o(
HD got what was on his Christmas list, from Mike and Lili, by way of Sheri and I. He looks pretty  happy with his accessory for his ipad.

Of course, Daisy must approve.

See how nice I was, Lili, I did not even show the cherry pie!

Good times with family and friends!

Finally SOLD !!!

The house we have had on the market for almost two years has finally sold! It is such a relief to be out from under it and will not have to continually make the four hour round trip to check on it. We close on Friday and will carry the note but that's OK. That monthly payment will help out the Social Security that has not had a cost of living raise in TWO YEARS! (Oh, get off my soap box or this blog will be too long to read.)

A little history on the house. . .
It was built in 1896 as the Rowden Church. Highway 36 was built through the community so they voted to move the building to the south side of the highway. The name was then changed to the Rowden Baptist Church. They voted to disband in 1962 and give the building to other churches in the area. A Cross Plains church moved the building and it  became the East Side Baptist Church and an addition was added to the back.

After that it became the home of the Cross Plains Garden Club who later turned it over to the Masons for their lodge.
We bought it from the Masons and remodeled it into a house.  It was a challenge- in the beginning, the largest area was just two large rooms. It had a tiny half bath, so we had to go down the street to a shop building with a two room house we owned, to bathe.

This was the original kitchen!!

And the updated look!

We worked hard at it ending up with 3 bedrooms, living room, den/dining combination, office, kitchen, entry room, laundry room, 2 1/2 baths, a pantry and a long hallway for a straight thru breeze from the front door to the back. Also added an oversized double garage with breezeway between garage and house, a shop behind the garage, a patio cover all across the back and a huge RV storage.

It is a good house and we miss it.

WonderFULL Thanksgiving Day!

We really enjoyed the day with Sheri, Perry, Brenden, Jacob and Emma.

We also got to share it with my HD's Dad, R.E. and brother, Robert.

And I can't leave out our Daisy and Sheri's Daisy Mae with their good friend, Grandpa!

Everything was so good! Sheri and Perry brought turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, candied sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie.
We contributed Ham, plain sweet potatoes, rolls, cranberry sauce, fruit salad, cherry pie and pecan pie.

Also presented RE with a Boston Cream Pie that had "Happy 39th Birthday,  Dad". His birthday is today and he turned 86!!

It was a very enjoyable day.
