Quilts for Kids

Quilts for Kids is a very worthwhile program that gives quilts to sick children.

It is sponsored by Downy. The quilt kit that you request contains all
fabric for the quilt top, the backing, and a label along with the
pattern and directions. The only thing you furnish is the thin batting
and thread and postage to send it in.

My DD found the link to it,ordered a kit and made the quilt, added one made from her materials and sent them both in to be loved by a couple of children. She named her quilts "Keeping Faith". She has her second kit now.

I ordered my kit and have finished it.. I was very impressed with the quality and design of the fabrics they sent and that they were already cut. They just needed to be put together. I quilted it diagonally and used a fancy stitch around the edges. They request lots of machine quilting and a zig zag or like stitch around the edge to keep from catching on IV lines.

It was hard for me to decide on a quilt name. I wanted something with my sister's name to reflect her courage during her battle with cancer.

She lost that battle the day after Mother's Day this year. I finally decided on the name "Faith's Light", because she brought light into everyones life.

I have completed this one, one using a fabric panel that Faith gave to me,  to send along with it. Since this fabric had rainbows in it, I quilted it using a scallop stitch and a zig zag around the edge of it. I really love the sayings on it. " God is the light that fills you with love" and "Each day is God's gift to you, you make it blossom and grow".

I am  sure I will be making more of these but will also check into
other groups as I would like to make something for senior citizens and for our returning hero's - our veterans.
