I HATE CHANGES!!

Now that that is said and out of the way, my DH has been telling me, for some time, that I need to update my desktop Linux operating system. It is at the point that it will no longer be supported. He has checked out several and found one he likes and thought would work for me.

I have a different setup than most people - my main system is Linux but I also have Windows on a virtual drive on my system since I have some programs that only run on Windows. He has worked on it for two days and finally put the drive in the computer instead of trying to set it up with the external drive. Several things just did not work and it really slowed things down. He worked on it again, got disgusted 'cause nothing was working right and put me back on my old system's hard drive.

DH does NOT like Windows so it is a chore to work with. It has been so long since I have used Windows, except just the few programs I use, I don't know much about it. Linux is so much easier and more stable to use and I have been using it for several years. Plus so many programs for it are FREE!!!

He is now checking out another on his computer. If it does well there he will check it out on my system.

Will be another blog I am sure!

Mustard Seed

Matthew 17:20
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

When I was in grade school, my best friend gave me a gift set - a necklace and bracelet with a mustard seed globe on them. I wore them a lot back then and still have them. I think of my friend when I see them. We both had the same first and middle names so the teacher called her by her first name and me by my middle name. I have long since lost track of my friend but not of the childhood memories we shared.

I never really thought much about the mustard seed until here lately. My dear daughter gave me a bracelet with the word FAITH and a mustard seed on it. It is very simple but beautiful and a constant reminder of the meaning behind the mustard seed. In addition, a reminder of the sister I lost, Faith.

Trouble and Double Trouble!

(Alias Daisy and Darlin ')
They dig up the back yard, want to get up and go out at 4:00am and chew up their toys, but give the best puppy kisses and hugs - ya just gotta love them!

Welcome Visitor.

We are so happy our DS could visit with us a few days before he makes a trip to Bulgaria for a short visit. Daisy and Darlin are enjoying his attention too.
Since he will not be here next week, he bought me a beautiful orchid plant for Mother's Day. He assures me that it is easy to care for and I need all the help I can get. Mom always sent a sympathy card with any plants she gave me!! LOL

Stinky-

After the singing at church last night, visiting with some church members, we got into a discussion about skunks. One member has one under his toolshed and was trying to figure out how to encourage it to make it's home elsewhere. He was told mothballs or fox urine would do it. An elder was laughing and said the perfect solution was to burn the building down!!! LOL

We related a couple of experiences we had with the little critters. When we lived in the country, six miles from town, we had all kinds of "visitors". Armadillos were in the yard on a regular basis so when we heard something under the house, that is what we figured iit was. DH opened the front access hole and said one of our little Dachshunds would flush it out. Meanwhile he opened the back access and when he peered under, there was a skunk sitting in the middle of the mothballs we had put under there!! He went back to the front and called the dog but she had already found the skunk - rather IT found her! She came out, DH got hold of her -  getting "perfumed" as well and put a leash on her for me to hold while he drove into town to the one and only grocery store. When he walked in, they just pointed and said "aisle 6 - tomato juice".  :)  It does work for getting rid of the smell but I didn't think we would ever get the smell out of the house. That critter sprayed right under the bathroom.
Now my experience was a bit different. I was on my way to work on my NEW motorcycle, just toodling down the service road on I20 when a skunk came out in front of me. I dodged it but it turned right in front of me. I thought I missed it but the odor remained so I stuck my foot out to see my tennis shoe and knew that I did not miss it. I went into the back way at work and used the water hose at the shop to hose my shoe and the bike down- didn't help! I continued to the parking lot, seeing a co- worker and asked him to tell my boss I would be late. He started to ask but the smell told him ALLl he needed to know. I went home and used the strongest cleaner I could find on my shoes and clothes and on my new bike. Still has a light lingering odor on the bike for awhile. When I went back to work a few hours later, I found all these yellow sticky notes all over my desk and office. "Good morning, Stinky" " Got Skunked", etc. LOL

Faiths Roses - How They Grow-

One of my favorite pictures.
My husband, daughter and I were sent on a mission, a couple of years ago, by a son and daughter-in-law to find some flowers for the funeral service for my sister, Faith. She passed away two years ago, the day after Mother's Day.

This is the "Peace and Love" rosebush we chose. It is more beautiful each year, being cared for by my brother-in-law, his neighbor and God's hand.

The first picture was taken last year and I just received the new one from him last week. They are so beautiful, just like Faith! Sure do miss her - but I know she is in God's loving care.

Marriage and Hot Water-

I spent a lot of time at my best girlfriend's home in high school. Actually, her house is where I met my guy. We were both telephone operators and she made a date over the phone with an Air Force guy. She did not want to meet him alone so she asked if he had a friend and I was her friend.

Blind date at a hotdog roast – and here we are 46 year later!

I loved her Mom and Dad – Mom was barely 5 foot and Dad was about 6 ft 5 inches or so and part American Indian.

When my DH and I told her Dad we were getting married, he said he wanted to give us some advice. He said “marriage is like a tub of hot water – the longer you stay in the colder it gets and you should always warm it up from time to time.” So for years, on anniversaries, birth announcements, etc, we would always put a special note to him that the water was STILL HOT!

Well, it's STILL HOT!
